Our Story
I'm Matt Shurtleff, but your students will call me Dr. Krevane - and yes, I'm that slightly crazy Utah science teacher who's been getting paid to create epic science moments for nearly 20 years! (Best. Job. Ever.)
Back in 2012, I founded Evil Scientist Academy in Kaysville, Utah because apparently one classroom of chaos wasn't enough for me. Since then, we've expanded to several locations across the Wasatch Front, recruiting thousands of kids into our league of junior mad scientists.

Picture this: Your gym transforms into a mad scientist's laboratory for 45 minutes...

Fog-Filled Dry Ice Bubbles: I turn volunteers into my assistants with "bubble hats" and clean their faces with fog while everyone erupts in laughter!
Vortex Cannon Mayhem: Time to test my aim! Fog rings knock cups clean off volunteers' heads - the kids love it!
Elephant Toothpaste Volcano Finale: Your students sit in complete silence (yes, even the chatty ones!), eyes glued to a giant flask of colorful liquid. The whole audience counts down "3, 2, 1..." and I add the catalyst. Suddenly, BOOM! A towering eruption of foam shoots over 14 feet high and all the kids are cheering! (Yes, it's the same reaction Mark Rober made famous!)

Here's what happens during Secret Agents of STEM:
Secret Codes: I pull off impossible math magic - predicting numbers, cracking codes. Kids are stumped! Then I reveal the secret: mathematical patterns real spies use. Suddenly math is a superpower!
Spy Gadgets: Every spy needs gadgets! I unveil my custom-built ping pong ball machine gun - a glorious contraption of PVC pipes, fittings, and a leaf blower. We test-fire it across the gym - ping pong balls flying, cans crashing, everyone cheering - and kids discover how exciting real engineering can be!
Operation Fireball: Your students hold their breath as I prepare a fireball balloon for a spectacular demonstration. The countdown begins, a student volunteer carefully ignites it from a safe distance using a candle on a pole, and WHOOSH - a jaw-dropping fireball erupts as the whole gym gasps and then erupts in cheers!

What grade levels work best?
Both assemblies are perfect for K-6 students!
For the best results, I recommend two separate shows - one for younger elementary (K-2) and one for upper elementary (3-6) the same day.
